Noida-Greater Noida West Metro Link Extention

Extension of Gr. Noida (West) Metro to start soon

Good news for the residents of Greater Noida (west), Noida-Greater Noida authority has finally decided to start the planning of extension of this route once again. There will be two links; one will connect sector-71 to Knowledge park-5 and another will be from the sector- 142 to Okhla bird sanctuary metro station.  Authority will now send this proposal to Noida metro rail corporation (NMRC).

With a total of 9 stations, the whole stretch of Sector-71 to Knowledge park-5 will be of 14.15 km and will be completely elevated. Estimated at a cost of Rs 3884 crore, the Metro corridor is expected to ferry 1.23 lakh passengers daily. On the other hand, the second line will be developed at an estimated cost of 2127 crore.

According to Alok Tandon, chairman, Noida- Gr Noida authority, “In the coming years, metro connectivity will play a very important role in easing the increasing traffic of the area. Also, with many real estate developments, more residents are coming to this area and hence a metro route is the need of the hour.”

As of now, around 16,000 families have taken the possession of their homes in various residential projects of Greater Noida-West and it is expected that the population will rise to over 10 lakh in the next three to four years. According to the rise in population, there is an acute need for such infrastructural projects in the area for the seamless flow of traffic and better connectivity.

Noida-Greater Noida West Metro Link to be ready by December 31, 2020

The Greater Noida authority’s chief executive officer Narendra Bhooshan said the new Metro project that was proposed for connecting Noida’s Sector 71 with Greater Noida west’s Sector 2 will be completed and made operational by December 31, 2020.

This Metro link will have five stations, of which three will be in Greater Noida West and two will be under Noida’s jurisdiction. The distance covered by the Metro between Noida’s Sector 71 to Greater Noida west’s Sector 1 till Kisan Chowk will be around seven kilometers.
